How to protect your credit card from fraud

[ad_1]

With online shopping, credit card fraud is getting worse, and most online shopping accepts cashless payments. Victims of this kind of fraud must go through a troublesome and frustrating process trying to recover the money they have lost. So, you need to skillfully deal with all the information related to your credit card and be vigilant to avoid being cheated. Here are some precautions you can take to prevent the risk of becoming a victim of such fraud.

1. Do not save Personal Identity Number

Once you receive a new credit card, sign it now. Remember its PIN and destroy the letter containing the PIN. If you want to change the number for easy memory, be careful not to use numbers associated with your birthday, social security number, license plate number, or surname.

2. Cut balls before throwing

If you discard any cards that you did not use but did not destroy them first, you may be stolen for identity theft and used to apply for new cards for your own use. You won't notice until you receive your bill. So, if your credit card is not used but active, put them in a safe place and if you want to throw them away, cut them into pieces before throwing.

3. Review your statement

You must see it immediately after you receive your credit card statement. Check each transaction on the bill. If the fees you charge are unrecognized, you must report them so that the card issuer can conduct a preliminary investigation of these invalid charges on the bill. Saving all transaction receipts will enable you to confirm legitimate transactions and identify unconfirmed charges.

4. Protecting the password on the ATM

If someone is queuing behind your back when accessing a credit card on an ATM, remember to block your hands and cards when entering the password. Use multiple finger input numbers as quickly as possible so that people behind you can see the PIN without making changes.

5. Check the security of your website before you make online purchases

Before you make online payments, make sure that the website has ensured the credit card transaction payment system. Do not fill in any personal information on the online order form until you know it is safe.

6. Report any lost or stolen card immediately

Always keep your credit card number and issueer's phone number in a safe place. If you have lost your credit card or your credit card has been stolen, you must immediately report it to the card issuer and prevent it from unauthorized access.

Summary

With the common use of credit cards as a primary payment method, especially in online shopping, the risk of being a victim of credit card fraud increases. However, if we take some precautionary measures to prevent ourselves from becoming victims of such fraud, we can minimize the risk.
