Dawne Raines Burke in Storyer College's first book long-term research report tells the story of the history of the black system from the beginning to the end of the 1958 reconstruction. Founded by Northern Baptists at the abolition site of Harpers Ferry, Storyr is the first university open to African-Americans in West Virginia and has played a central role in regional and national history. In addition to educating generations of students of all races, genders and beliefs, Storyr is the second venue for the Niagara movement (and the first venue in the United States). This is the predecessor of NAACP.
