I firmly believe that we must not underestimate the degree of stupidity and lack of attention of American voters! Political candidates are constantly making empty words and promises, and it seems that they have no plans to actually achieve them. However, in our recent memory, we have never seen the past year or so, as we have observed, as much as the elected political, public leaders' policies and remarks have as much actual and/or potential influence. Although it is obvious that there are also international influences, this article will only briefly examine, consider and review economic issues, and focus only on five specific areas.
1. Employment: Republican lawmakers and President Trump announced that their tax reform plan will be a huge upsurge for the entire U.S. economy and claim that it will benefit, including employment, as well as wages. If this is the case, they will keep their promises, but almost all independent economists and financial experts/professionals seem to think that the main impact will be the expansion of the US defect, which has never worked, and may not work now! Although the tax reform was carried out only in January 2018, we did witness a lower unemployment rate, but most people believe that this is a continuation of the trend that has occurred over the past few years. The president has always supported this legislation and boasted about how the company worked when it announced bonuses, but conducted a more thorough review, indicating that most companies will use these funds to provide dividends to shareholders. It seems that this tax reform is actually the richest (1%) welfare, not serving the best interests of the middle class!
2. Deficit: After the military, the largest component of the U.S. budget was debt repayment (interest payments). Economists predict that the new tax law will significantly increase the scale of the deficit, which will mean that future generations will have to pay back for years!
3. Preparations: How will the United States prepare to deal with these economic challenges and obstacles? Are our elected officials ready, willing and/or able to create, develop and implement the best solutions for the future perception and conception of our country?
4. Priorities: What is the best interest of our current public officials? Are they focused on their personal agenda, self-interest, not common interest? As candidates and President Trump, how will the country deal with this, the richest 1% become richer and more popular than the middle class, because candidates and President Trump have been constantly pledged and guaranteed?
5. Planning/Concern: Although every scientist in almost every country recognizes the existence of climate change and needs to address environmental issues and needs, President Trump seems to deny this fact! The president reconstructed the government, but it has always been selfish, for public and public interests, and their best interests. How will future generations be affected, to avoid our responsibility to maintain our planet, and our dedication to clean air and water?
Every action taken and/or avoided by our public officials has a major impact on our future, as well as a real and/or potential consequences. How will the future of the United States be affected?
